NEW YORK CITY LAW DEPARTMENT
CLE COURSE REGISTRATION
The Law Department is pleased to present the Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Course Schedule after a long interruption.
Please take the time to read this entire message, as it contains important information, including new instructions for registering, how we will notify you that you have been accepted into a course and information about new CLE Rules.
REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS
- Review the attached Course Schedule and identify the course(s) for which you want to register.
- Tell your Agency CLE Contact the title and date each course for which you want to register.
- Attend the course you requested. Please note that attorneys must sign-in and sign-out on the attendance sheet. We will not close anyone out of courses. The new location is large enough to accommodate everyone who wants to attend, but we do need to know how many course books to prepare.
IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING TIME AND LOCATION

CERTIFICATES
Certificates of attendance will be sent to your Agency CLE Contact who will distribute them to you.
Individual E-Mail registration will not be implemented.
Several months ago we collected e-mail addresses from attorneys in contemplation of a direct e-mail registration process. We will not be implementing that project. Attorneys will continue to register through their CLE Contacts.
PRIORITY
We no longer need to know about "priority" registrations.
CLE REQUIREMENTS
Attorneys who do not know how many CLE credits they need should refer to Part 1500 of Title 22 of the Official Compilations of Codes, entitled "Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Program for Attorneys in the State of New York." Attorneys who do not know when they must register should contact the Office of Court Administration.
NEW CLE RULES
Under new CLE requirements, participants must attend the entire course to receive any credit. All attendee will have to sign-in and sign-out on the attendance sheet. Persons arriving late after the course begins will not receive credit. Also, credit may not be received for attending the same course, even if it is repeated in a subsequent reported period.
CLE COMPLIANCE EXTENSIONS
As you may know, experienced attorneys who must register in calendar year 2002 must certify that they have taken twenty-four credit hours of CLE, since they last registered in 2000. Attorneys who must register between September 1, 2001 and March 31, 2002 are to be eligible for a "WTC extension." See your CLE Contact for details about applying for a "WTC" extension.
